Quick Oobleck Play Dough

Summer days are the best days for science experiments! Especially when they only involve 2 ingredients and smell nice!

This oobleck dough is also less messy than most slime recipes and doesn't stick to hands once its fully mixed!

I almost called this stuff Slime Dough but as soon as I read the word "slime" I'm passing on the activity.

If you've never made classic oobleck, I highly recommend it! It's so fun and educational (weird to see a substance somewhere between a liquid and solid).

This dough has the same property of being a little softer when handled gently and harder when hit or quickly smooshed.

So easy to make!

Here's all you need:

-Cheap hair conditioner

-Corn starch

-Mixing bowls

-Food coloring (optional)

-Gloves (optional)

We used Pantene because we had a LOT on hand and I like the way it smells. It's the cheap one we use for my daughter that has a ton of hair.

We used this cornstarch because it's the only kind our grocery store carries. There's no special reason for the brand.

I really like this Wilton Gel Food coloring because it doesn't seem to be as messy as the regular liquid.

The ratio is a simple 1:2

Twice as much cornstarch as conditioner.

I just put them both in a bowl and let the girls squish it around with their hands!

It takes a couple of minutes of mixing to get it to form into anything resembling dough.

I had to help at the end to gather all of the little bits and smash them into a ball.

The more the play with it the cleaner their hands get!

Then we made a big ball and used a finger to poke a shallow hole in the center. We added 2 drops of coloring inside and mixed it around with gloved hands.

Once it was mixed in they took off the gloves and didn't get their hands stained.

This dough can also be saved in a sealed container for a while!

Have fun!!
